Diesel Technician Position


  • At least 2 years of experience working as a heavy duty diesel mechanic
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair problems of general and advanced nature
  • Ability to work in work in a safe and efficient manner
  • Demonstrable oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of various types of trucking equipment (tractors, trailers, and other YTC equipment


  • Welding experience and/or certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Asset management software
  • Proficiency in Detroit DiagnosticLink/DDEC and Mack PTT Diagnostic software


  • Diagnose, test, adjust, and repair systems of heavy duty diesel powered trucks
  • Examine, test, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems using standard testing procedures along with computer diagnostic equipment
  • Perform repairs and replace defective parts along with routine and scheduled maintenance services.
  • Perform other general garage duties as needed
  • Physical requirement of sitting, standing, kneeling, squatting and lifting up to 50 pounds multiple times per shift
  • Manage documents and service information related to YTC truck maintenance
  • Data entry of truck information, maintenance information, and parts inventory for YTC equipment
  • Maintain working knowledge of YTC equipment and capabilities
  • Work with YTC management to ensure that truck and driver policies and procedures are implemented
  • Ensure that YTC’s core working values of “Safety, Service, and Professionalism” are implemented throughout the trucking operations of YTC
